Warriors dodge Hawks in the NBA

The Golden State Warriors dodged a bullet last night as they continue their quest to break the NBA record of 72 wins in a season. They even managed to prevail while reigning MVP Stephen Curry rested his sore left ankle.

Draymond Green hit an off-balance 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with 40.2 seconds remaining in overtime to help the Warriors knock off Atlanta 109-105. Klay Thompson had a team-high 26 points for Golden State, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:54 left and another big basket with 11.4 seconds on the clock. Andrew Bogut (BOH’-guht) had 19 points and saved the ball from going out of bounds just before Green’s go-ahead basket.

The Warriors picked up their sixth consecutive victory and improved to 25-0 at home. They own a 54-5 record and need to win 19 of their last 23 games to top the single-season victory mark held by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. Golden State has just seven road games remaining.
