Iowa lawmakers have reached a deal that would increase state funding by 2.25 percent for K-12 education in the next fiscal year. Members of the Democratic-majority Senate and Republican-controlled House reached the compromise in a special committee meeting. Both full chambers must approve the measure before Gov. Terry Branstad can review it. Despite the news Marshalltown School Superintendent Doctor Marvin Wade says planned budget cuts for the budget for this upcoming fiscal year will go on as scheduled. The school board is slated to certify the budget early next month.
