A lot is happening in the Des Moines area this weekend and a lot of folks from the listening area are headed to and from that direction. The Garth Brooks concerts are going on, the Drake Relays are in progress, the Iowa Cubs are in the midst of a home stand, there is also an event at the Civic Center. People are being urged to be patient and arrive early. Marketing Director Adam Flack at the Wells Fargo Arena says they have a plan in place for the sold-out concerts in which two shows are being performed each night in the interest of things going smoothly. Iowa State Trooper Doug Cutts is urging motorists to use good common sense and anticipate that a lot of other drivers are going to be out there. One listener said he spent 35 minutes sitting in traffic on a bridge in downtown Des Moines Friday night waiting for traffic to progress. Some 90,000 people are expected for the Garth Brooks concerts before all is said and done. Flack says they consulted with other venues that have hosted two concerts in one evening in order to come up with a good plan for getting people in and out of the arena in a smooth fashion.
