The primary election is just 5 days away – Tuesday, June 7. Regarding polls in Marshall County, 19 of them will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. You can vote absentee at the Marshall County Courthouse during regular business hours, including special hours this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is one contested race in Marshall County, that being on the GOP side for County Board of Supervisors pitting the present Sheriff Ted Kamatchus who is retiring, against fellow newcomer Steve Salasek. Voters will also select a primary candidate at the state level on the Democratic side for U.S. Congress in District one, and will reduce a list of four candidates down to one to go up against longtime incumbent Chuck Grassley in November. Some of the voters in Marshall County will select a Democratic Candidate to go up against incumbent Dean Fisher for the Iowa House seat in District 72 in November, voting for either John Anderson or Nathan Wragge. All of the other races on the ballot either on the Democratic or Republican side are unopposed.
