Organizers at Marshalltown High School report a very successful Fall Sports Kickoff event was held at Leonard Cole Field and the Roundhouse Friday afternoon and evening. The timing of the events was altered in anticipation of incoming storms and heavy rain that passed through the area later in the evening. The donation of many sports drinks that can be consumed by the athletes was very much appreciated. The Marshalltown high school football team will begin their season next Friday night at Ames, a game that can be heard on News Talk 1230 KFJB and also heard on streaming audio at 1230kfjb.com. The boys golf team will be in action Monday at the Mark Mann invitational at Mason City. The girls volleyball team at MHS will host Waukee Tuesday night at 7:30 at the Roundhouse. School starts back up also on Tuesday with a one hour district wide dismissal both Tuesday and Wednesday.
