Unemployment this summer in the Marshalltown area has been high and stagnant according to data released by Iowa Workforce Development. The numbers remained essentially unchanged from June to July in Marshall County remaining at 4.8%. There were 10 more people unemployed in June then there were in July. In Marshalltown proper the numbers were pretty much the same although higher percentage wise, inching down a bit from 5.2% to 5.1%. The Marshalltown unemployment numbers are higher than the state norm.
