The Marshall Mall hosted its Fifth Annual Great Tractor Ride that began and concluded Saturday at the Mall. The event drew 57 tractors on a cloudy and temperate Saturday in Marshalltown for the ride. Todd Collins of Marshalltown Broadcasting lead the way on his 1968 Oliver that he refurbished. He said it was a good day for a ride and was thrilled to have the opportunity to do so. The atmosphere, according to Susan Krough a spokeswoman for the Marshalltown Mall, was very “Iowan” with the parade of tractors of various brands, from large to small. The Marshalltown Police Department also got in on the act with a vintage police car of their own that dates back to 1966. Police Reserve volunteer, Dan Brandt says that the car was refurbished and is not an original but does have a strong nostalgic flavor to it. Afterward a fundraising pork burger luncheon was held with proceeds going to the fall fundraising campaign of the area United Way.
