Cyclones Top Hawkeyes in Barbeque Fundraiser in Marshalltown

The Iowa State Cyclones bested the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday, September 8 at the Marshalltown Mall in a barbeque rib fundraiser. Rhonda Miller, of Iowa River Hospice says that they were the real winner in this effort. She says over $1,000 was collected from the effort in which Bruce “Bubba” Campbell, an Iowa State fan and a City of Marshalltown employee, cooked ribs against Eric Boone, a Hawkeye fan and a systems analyst for Emerson Fisher. Participants contributed $575 on behalf of Iowa State and $400 on behalf of Iowa, in addition to direct donations to Iowa River Hospice. We asked some of the participants for their Iowa State/Iowa game predictions: Bubba Campbell predicted 24-21 Iowa State, Eric Boone predicted 24-9 Iowa. Leona McDonough of Heavenly Breads in the mall predicted Iowa 28 Iowa State 14, Chief Deputy, Steve Hoffman of the Marshall County Sheriffs Department was also there and predicted Iowa over Iowa State 28-24. The weather in Marshalltown was beautiful for the event, partly sunny and 81 degrees at the time. The event was held in the mall parking lot near the reader board.
