People`s creativity were on display at the Marshalltown Public Library on Wednesday as a reception for those who participated in an altered books event took place. Librarian Katie Fink says there were 26 people that participated by taking old and outdated books and repurposing them into art work. There was a diversity of efforts ranging from a hand that held a empty can of Surge pop to a character depiction of Albert Einstein carved into the side pages of a book. Fink says Marshalltown is a wonderfully creative community. One of the youngest artists was Dakota Curley of Marshalltown who said he produced his art piece while traveling in a car on a family trip. Fink says this is a yearly event.
