The Marshalltown City Council met late Monday afternoon and Church and Linn Streets in Marshalltown will stay one way just as they have been for the last 46 years. The proposed ordinance died for lack of a motion. It had been originally proposed by Councilman Joel Greer but a number of the other council persons said they had not received a lot of support from constituents about the idea. Other headlines from the council meeting: Christopher Cross was introduced as they new Deputy Fire Chief for the Marshalltown Fire Department, he had been working in Windsor Heights a Des Moines suburb. Kenn Vinson, liason man for Alliant Energy gave an update on the Marshalltown Generating Station progress and said construction was about 97% of the way along and also said that some 41.5 million dollars in local spending had been generated in the time that construction had been going on with the project.
