Someone who either lives or hangs around the Colfax area had one million reasons to celebrate the New Year. The Iowa Lottery announced that someone has a winning Powerball ticket worth one million dollars, purchased from the Kum & Go on North Walnut street in Colfax. The winning ticket came within one number of the big jackpot of over 390 million dollars. Two other million dollar tickets were sold in New Hampshire and New Jersey.

The Powerball jackpot now climbs to an estimated 440 million dollars for Wednesday’s drawing.
