Massage Ordinance Tabled

The Marshalltown City Council’s first reading of a proposed ordinance for the licensing of massage therapy businesses was met by passionate opposition from those already allowed by the State of Iowa as Licensed Massage Therapists. The therapists, five of whom addressed the Council along with attorneys Norma Meade and Larry McKibben, said they felt the ordinance, which was designed to keep illicit massage businesses out of the community, was singling them out and would do nothing but drive business away from legitimate therapists. Tow individuals spoke to the Council about adopting the resolution. The bottom line is that that the resolution was tabled with more discussion anticipated.
