Marshaltown will be a busy place this weekeknd, as the YMCA/YWCA hosts the YMCA State Swimming Championships Satuday and Sunday. Over 800 swimmers will take part in the event, which mans more to the community than just a packed parking lot at the Y. It means packed hotels, busy restaurants and convenience stores.
It’s the 15th year in a row Marshalltown has hosted this event. With the new Y-Wellmark pool now open in Des Moines, The Y encourages area residents to welcome all these visitors to town to help Marshalltown make it 16 years in a row for the State Swimming Championships next year.
