Marshalltown and Ames were among 13 Iowa communities honored at the Iowa Main Street awards celebration Friday night at the Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.  Marshalltown reached the $50 million mark in private dollar investment for their downtown and Ames reached the $10 million dollar mark. Belle Plaine and Mount Vernon were recognized for have programs in place for 10 years. Darla Ubben formerly of Conrad was honored posthumously for her work in that city.
