Shelby Houlihan accomplished a rare double at the USA Track and Field Championships. The Sioux City native captured the title in the 5000 meter run, becoming the first American to win the 5000 and the 1500 in the same meet since back in 2000.

Des Moines native and former Missouri standout Karissa Schweizer led for much of the race before finishing third in her pro debut.
