A quartet of state football players are on the “watch lists” for a pair of national college awards for the upcoming season.

Iowa junior quarterback Nate Stanley and Iowa State running back David Montgomery have been named to the 2018 Maxwell Award Watch List.

The Maxwell Award is presented annually to College Football’s Player of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club.

Meantime, Cyclone Cornerback Brian Pevey and Iowa junior defensive end Anthony Nelson has been named to the 2018 Bednarik Award Trophy Watch List.

The Bednarik Award, presented annually by the Maxwell Football Club, is given to the nation’s top college defensive player.
