There was a weekend rally at the Iowa State Fair. After slow attendance numbers during the first part of the Fair’s run, the final weekend lifted the event to a new record for the number of fair-goers…but just barely.

an estimated 1,130,260, just 189 people over the 1,130,071 attendance record set in 2017.

The increase was certainly helped by the  15,775 people who attended the Thomas Rhett concert on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.  The newly expanded Grandstand led to to a new record of 89,558 over the 11-day concert series.
