The Council also voted to terminate the agreement with the YMCA-YWCA for management of the Aquatic Center. Reasons revolved around cost savings, as opposed to paying the Y, along with concerns about ongoing shortages of life guards. Y Aquatic Director Shelley Lechnir said the Y would not campaign to keep the agreement. However, she said trying to recruit lifeguards to work was just part of that equation.

Due to the existing agreement stating October 15th was the date for notification of termination, the Council did vote to end the agreement, while ramping up the search for a new Director of Parks & Rec. Councilcor Leon Lamer pointed out the City could also again approach the Y to negotiate a new agreement in the future.
