Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley will soon by third in line for presidential succession.

Senate Republicans have nominated Grassley to be Senate pro tempore, a position usually reserved for the most senior member of the Senate.

Upon his expected election to the position by the full Senate on January 3, 2019, Grassley will become third in the line of presidential succession following the Vice President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
