There will be a lot of swearing going on around central Iowa today; but not of the four letter sort. It will be the swearing in of government officials as the new calendar year of business begins.

In Story County, Democrat Linda Murken will be sworn in as a Supervisor, while Ted Rasmussen will take the oath of office as County Treasurer. The Supervisors will then meet at 10 am.

In Marshall County, it will be the typical first of the year housekeeping, as the Supervisors will accept their appointments to various boards and committees for the coming year.

Oaths of office will also be conducted in Poweshiek County during it’s 8:30 meeting; while the Grundy County Board of Supervisors will meet at nine this morning.
