From the City of Marshalltown;

Mayor Joel Greer has ordered the closure of all City playgrounds and play equipment in the parks closed to the public as of 8am on Monday, April 6th, until further notice. Other amenities closed to the public include the public restrooms in all City parks, the futsal courts at West End Park, and the Skate Park. To help slow the spread of the coronavirus, the Mayor is asking kids and parents to not use these park amenities until  it is deemed safe for public interaction again.   City staff are not able to sanitize and disinfect these amenities consistently in order to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

This closure does not include use of the dog park, tennis court, ball fields, and disc golf course.  However, the public is encouraged to only utilize these areas with less than 10 people at a time and in a way that maintains appropriate social distancing of 6 feet or more.  Users are encouraged to wash your hands before and after use of these facilities and bringing your own wipes to sanitize any surfaces you might come in contact with.

The campground in Riverview Park is scheduled to open May 1st, including the bathhouse, at this time.  However, this plan could be modified based on State and federal guidance.  Options include not opening the bathhouse and require campers to have their own facilities in their campers/RV’s, with no tent camping allowed.  Please watch for future updates before planning your campground visit.
