It's Fun to Run and Walk to Help Marshall County 4H
The weather is getting nicer, so why not go for a run or walk for the Marshall County 4-H and their first ever Clover Run/Walk 5-K? Katie Mullaney, Spokesperson for the event says the money will expected to go to events the whole community could benefit from.
“At the Marshall County Fair, we would love to have more activities for people who are not involved in 4H as an incentive to come out to the fair ground and be able to participate in any way,” she say.
She then goes on to add, “Raising that money would, pretty much, would give more room for activities.”
The money not used for the fair, would then go back to 4H dues. However, they needed to find a way to raise the money, all while getting the community involved.
While walking and running are fun, there is another activity during the event to help raise money.
“We will also have a silent auction,” Mullaney says.
The items being auctioned off will be particularly of interest to sports fans.
“We have a Fred Hoiberg signed basketball; a Paul Rhoads signed basketball; and gloves signed by wide receivers from the St. Louis Rams.”
But, if sports are not your thing, there are a few other items donated from people in the community, including a Puddle Tractor.
The 4-H Clover Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, April 12th, at the Central Iowa Fair Grounds. For more information and to learn how to register you can go to the ISU Extension’s website.
