The Marshalltown Bobcats High School football team defeated Waterloo East in Waterloo Friday by the margin of 70 to 0. Only two other times have the Bobcats outscored their opponents by larger margins. They beat Hampton 144-0 in 1902 and Belle Plaine 89-0 in 1923. Quarterback Sam Irwin was 9-15 in the passing department and threw for five touchdowns. The Bobcats amassed 340 yards of total offense. Running Marquis Hayes had 12 carries for 81 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Six different receivers had catches. Homecoming week is next week at MHS. Marshalltown will play Waterloo West next Friday evening at Leonard Cole Field in Marshalltown at 7:30. The Homecoming Parade will be along Main Street in Marshalltown next Thursday night September 15th at six p-m. A pep rally and coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen will follow at the Marshalltown Roundhouse.
