Four Ames netters — two singles competitors and one doubles pairing — punched their tickets to the state tournament as the Little Cyclones claimed a district tournament championship. Ames now will look ahead to substate play for dual competition Saturday and the individual state meet later this month.

The Grundy Center/Gladbrook Reinbeck boys tennis team has earned a berth in substate after a third place showing and will play at Aplington-Parkersburg on Saturday.

South Hardin junior Cauy Teske became the first Tiger boy to qualify for the state tennis tournament on Wednesday when he finished second in the singles bracket of the Class 1A district meet at Boone.
