Ed Carpenter has reclaimed the mantle as the fastest man in Indianapolis.

On Sunday — and for the third time in his career — the Butler graduate and local hero won the pole for the Indianapolis 500. The last remaining owner/driver in the Verizon IndyCar Series thrilled the Indianapolis Motor Speedway crowd by turning the only 230-mph lap of the weekend.

The Front Row:

20 Ed Carpenter, Ed Carpenter Racing, Chevrolet, 229.618

22 Simon Pagenaud, Team Penske, Chevrolet, 228.761

13 Will Power, Team Penske, Chevrolet, 228.607

Danica Patrcik will start in row 3, seventh overall. Coverage of the Indy 500 begins on Sunday morning on 1230 KFJB.
