New Iowa softball coach Renee Gillispie says her first goal is to make the Hawkeyes competitive, again. A program that played in 16 NCAA Tournaments and four College World Series between 1989 and 2009 has suffered through five straight losing seasons.

The new season begins Friday against Bucknell at the LSU tournament.
