For many the 4th of July means family, fun…and fireworks. For Marshalltown Fire Chief David Rierson it means trying to enforce state and city ordinances. Rierson reminds that setting off fireworks in the City of Marshalltown is not allowed, but notes the state allows fireworks to be sold.
Rierson says around 14 locations, both in-store and at temporary locations will be selling fireworks this season. For safety’s sake, he says the best thing you can do with fireworks, is go watch then at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds and let the professionals handle the explosives.
