A pair of low-pressure systems—one moving northward into western Canada and the other near the southern Atlantic Coast—will help to focus rainfall for the remainder of the week. Five-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches across the northern Plains and upper Midwest, as well as an area stretching from the middle Mississippi Valley into the Southeast. In contrast, little or no rain will fall in the lower Great Lakes region and from California to the southern half of the Plains.
