Betty Jane Wilkens, 93 of Marshalltown, IA passed away on her daughter, Susan’s birth date, Friday, August 21, 2020 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab in Marshalltown. Private Funeral Services will be held at Anderson Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Betty was born April 7, 1927 to Edward and Tena (Bleeker) Boyenga in Geneva, IA. She graduated from Ackley High school in 1945. She then attended Cadet Nursing School in Marshalltown. Betty was united in marriage to James Wilkens on April 28, 1946 in Ackley. Betty worked at Younkers from 1961 to 1969 and later on worked at Lennox for 9 ½ years. She was primarily a homemaker. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church, PTA, Womens Christian Club Choir, Deaconess, and a Sunday School teacher for 17 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jim, worked on crafts, and always loved to decorate. She was very family originated. Betty loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, DeAnne Knaack of Marshalltown, Vicki (Dennis) Underhill of Le Grand, IA, Nancy (Dan) Sloum of Independence, IA; six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Jim, a daughter, Susan, son in-law, Bill Knaack and a grandaughter, Angela Lukehart.
