Marlys A. White, 100 passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Valley View Specialty Care in Eldora, IA. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held. Marlys Ann Gethmann was born June 5, 1920 to Wesley and Minnie (Wilmus) Gethmann in Gladbrook, IA. She grew up there and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1936. Marlys attended Cornell College for two years, majoring in art. She was united in marriage to William White in 1941. Marlys was a loving wife and mother of five children. Volunteer work was her passion. For many years she volunteered her time and talent at Pleasant Hill, reading to the blind, working at the House of Compassion, and sewing Baptismal garments for St. Mary Catholic Church. Marlys was a former member of Kiwanis Queens.

Marlys is survived by four children; Dr. Michael White of Oaksville, VA, Mary (Ron) Reece of New Providence, IA, Maureen (Frank) Evans of Folsom, LA, Beth (Glen) Farley of Edmunds, WA, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William, a daughter, Ann Gorsuch, a grandson, Chris White, a great grandson, Ely Simms, two brothers; Kenneth Gethmann, and Ivan Gethmann.
