A Wisconsin county is making it easier for farmers to plant a variety of crops by renting a no-till drill.

Greg Leonard with the Eau Claire County Land and Conservation office tells Brownfield they acquired a ten-foot Great Plains drill with three seedboxes to help farmers plant cover crops, waterways, forages, and other seed mixes without having to make a major investment. “Our local farmers needed a no-till drill and there was not one really available for rent within the county so we did find some grant money, pulled together grant money and donations and we actually purchased this no-till drill last spring, the spring of 2020 with no tax levy dollars.”

Leonard says the drill has been very popular since they purchased it last fall.
