MPACT stands for Marshalltown Police and Community Team, and has been around for 2 years and now has data to compare.  David Hicks, Executive Director with YSS, and Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper have been leading this team.

That was Police Chief Tupper.  MPACT is when social workers also respond to calls where it makes sense.  Many times the social worker will do follow ups as well.

I shifted my focus back to Chief Tupper and asked what it means for his team to be allowed to head back into the field.

MPACT has been widely successful in our community, David shares multiple stories how the program has helped individuals.  Arresting people isn’t always the answer, sometimes people need to know there are services out there to help them.
