Sharon V. Somers, 82, of Green Mountain, IA, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Sharon was born May 23, 1940, to Herbert and Virginia (Menter) Krough in Marshalltown. She was one of five children. Sharon was raised in rural Marshalltown and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Larry Somers, who was in the class of 1955, on October 18, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with one child, Lori. Sharon worked at Producer Savings Bank in Green Mountain, before her entrepreneur spirit pushed her to purchase the local cafe which became the popular Sharon’s Place in Green Mountain. She was then asked to run the school lunch program at Green Mountain in the K-12 building, retiring in 2002. Sharon was an amazing person, who loved to entertain her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and any chance she got; she was holding a grandchild singing Jesus Loves Me.

Sharon will be dearly missed by her daughter; Lori Somers of Marshalltown, Iowa, two grandchildren; Eli (Melinda) Somers, of Minneapolis, MN, Janel Christine, of Eden Prairie, MN, nine great-grandchildren; Justice, JJ, Jennifer, Jayla, Jasara, Jacoby, Mae, Desmond, Peter, two siblings; Linda (Ron) Simatovich, Ed Krough, and two sister-in-laws; Betty Butler, and Linda Krough. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, a great grandson, Julius, and two siblings, Gib Krough, and Scott Krough.
