Thursday 18th April 2024

This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week, which stresses just how important it is to stay aware of and prepared for severe weather.  Each day this week is dedicated to a different type of severe weather.  Monday – Severe thunderstorms, Tuesday – receiving different weather warnings,  Wednesday – Statewide tornado drill at 10am, Thursday – will be for family preparedness, and Friday – flash floods.  Iowa being part of tornado alley means we are no stranger to severe weather, Iowa averages 51 tornadoes each year, which typically occur in the summer and spring.  Kim Elder, Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator, will be joining KFJB Thursday for Central Iowa Today to talk further about severe weather.
