The Marshalltown School Board on Monday heard about the possibilities of creating a year round school set up from representatives of a committee that has been studying the idea for some 14 months. Arlene McAtee served as one of the spokespersons for the group which had as many as 18 people researching information on the subject. The committee advised the school board that they thought that switching to a 8 week summer vacation from a 14 week summer break was a good idea. The school board took the information under advisement and will move forward with the process, they did not take any action nor were charged to do so. The further exploration of this prospect will begin including seeking input from the public. School Board heard from five new administrators who have been hired, they got a chance to introduce themselves and talk a little bit about themselves. School starts up for the Marshalltown School District on Tuesday August 23rd.
