(Newton, IA) – Don’t look now but about 800 sex offenders are on their way to Newton. Officials have decided to move 800 convicted sex offenders to a prison in Newton because it’s more secure than the Mt. Pleasant Facility. Authorities say, the Newton Facility uses prison cells as opposed to the Mt. Pleasant Center, which consists of a dormitory style environment. Officials say, the Newton Facility is better equiped to handle inmates with behavioral problems without having to transfer those prisoners to another facility. Once the move is complete…the Newton prison will house 12-hundred inmates….800 being sex offenders.
