The Marshalltown City Council gave the go ahead to plans to redo tennis courts in the area of 13th Street into smaller versions of soccer courts for what is called futsal. This came despite objections from some people associated with an effort to put up splash pads in Marshalltown to wait until after a master plan for the parks department was completed by a firm called Bolton and Monk. In other action council passed 19 different resolutions that will pave the way for the police and fire station project to move forward. Council also approved an urban renewal project. Council member also discussed but took no action on an idea to hire a code enforcement inspector who would take on numerous duties.
