An annual report on greenhouse gases in Iowa shows that the emission of those gases has dropped for the second straight year.

DNR Environmental Specialist Marnie Stein says the emissions have dropped by two percent since 2015.  Overall, the report says the state let loose 128 million metric tons of greenhouse gas in 2016.

The report is required by the Iowa Legislature to document the trends and progress in reducing emissions.
