The Marshalltown School Board seeks people interested in serving on the school board. According to state law, a petition can be submitted calling for a special election if turned in within a 14-day period of a public notice and if the petition has 493 signatures of eligible voters from the school district. The School Board has the option of appointing someone to the post as well which is what the board did after the last vacancy with Board member Mike Miller. This latest one occurred when Ben Stansberry turned in his resignation last Friday after being arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department. Letters of interest are being sought by the school district. They need to be turned into district headquarters by Wednesday September 21st.
