The City of Marshalltown and the Marshalltown Police Department are trying to get the word out about another phone scam taking place. Officials say it involves the perpetrators posing as those involved with what is called portfolio recovery, the caller claims to have received a bad check that needs attention right away. The numbers displayed on incoming calls are 760-410-5594 and 971-717-2735. You are urged to not give out personal information to anyone over your telephone. This is a scam.
