Monday was quite a day in the listening area as ice storm jupiter did a number on life in this neck of the woods. Experts say the good thing is there was advance notice and it also came on a holiday and a fair number of people decided to hunker down and ride the storm out. There was 71 hundreths of an inch of rain fall to go with the ice accumulation that was received. Some entities such as Marshalltown Community College and the Marshalltown Public Library for example decided to completely punt the football and close for the day after deciding to delay earlier in the day. There was lots of ice melt used on surfaces. Things were treacherous both on foot and in a vehicle. Warmer temperatures are forecast as the week goes on promising to do some melting on what has frozen.
