The Marshalltown City Council will meet this afternoon at 5:30 at Marshalltown City Hall. Busy agenda today, Council will hear some comments on a recent feasibility study done on the Marshalltown Coliseum building downtown and may take action to move forward on the next step in the process. Meanwhile Council is expected to pass a resolution that would name part of East Nevada Street from South 18th Avenue to the front gate of the Marshalltown Generating Station after the late Marshalltown Mayor Gene Beach, it would be called Gene Beach Drive. Council is expected to firm up its stance on fireworks in the area with a new state law allowing sales going into effect June 1st.
