The Marshalltown City Council Monday voted 5-2 to allow the Oktemberfest committee to come up with a plan to manage allowing opening alcohol containers on Friday and Saturday nights of the Oktemberfest weekend. The desire of the Oktemberfest committee is increased revenue and larger crowds in the area of the courthouse square. There was concern about enforcement of the rules especially on Friday when there is a car show. A public hearing was held on the Police and Fire Station Demolition and Earthwork project, bids are due on the project on Tuesday July 18th. Council approved vacating land along South First Street and West Madison Street to businessman Garrett Goodman for development purposes.
