A special election is being held in Marshalltown today to determine whether voters want to redistribute the Local Option Sales Tax. If passed 78 percent of the tax monies would be used for property tax relief and 22% for any lawful purpose. The polls are open until eight p-m at the Marshalltown Public Library, at Malloy Hall at the Iowa Veterans Home, at the Fisher Community Center and at First Baptist Church. This is a simple yes/no vote and will take a simple majority 50% plus one to pass.
