The Community Development Board in Des Moines moved forward on a property severance case involving three Marshalltown residents who want to break away from the city. They claim they pay taxes and do not get services a claim that the city denies. The development board, denied a request to remove Dick Heirstein as a local representative from the city of Marshalltown as objected to by the petitioners, and voted to keep Robert Duke as a representative of Marshall County that was objected to by the city because he did not live in the area of involuntary annexation. The Development Board will hold a hearing in Marshalltown to hear both sides of the issue on October 4th at a location to be determined.
