A year ago, owner Barb Hagstrand debuted the Gallery Garden on the east side of the Kibbey Building in downtown Marshalltown. At that time, she said the building would feature new store fronts and services. Yesterday, there was a trio of ribbon cuttings as she and her partner Jeff Mitchell debuted Van Gogh’s Tannin and Thrivent Financial.
Van Gogh’s is an events center for hosting meetings, receptions and other gatherings. Laurie Gowdy is the local rep for financial services company Thrivent. Tannin is a wine bar, owned by long time residents Tom and Mary Curley. She says they enjoyed a win bar in Des Moines and heir son-in-law challenged them to open one in Marshalltown.
Tannin will feature more than just over 60 selections of wine. Craft beers, ice tea, along with cheese, meat and bread trays.
