Like many other entities, both public and private, the budget process for the next year is well underway in Marshall County. Supervisor Dave Thompson says the elected officials and department heads get together in a series of meetings and go over the budget in a meticulous manner. Thompson says one of the keys is listening to see where middle ground can be agreed on.

Thomspon says after being debt-free the past year, the goal is certainly to remain so, with the reminder that the courthouse renovation is being funded by insurance money in the wake of the July tornado.
