Can anyone else remember a time when a coach and a play-by-play announcer were suspended within a week of each other for opening their mouths?

Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery has been suspended for two games following a profanity laced tirade at an official following Tuesday night’s loss at Ohio State. McCaffrey pursed a ref after Tuesday night’s loss to Ohio State, letting the invectives fly.

His suspension came on the day it was announced that announcer Gary Dolphin would resume his duties beginning with the spring football game. Dolphin was benched for the remainder of the basketball season following a remark made in the wake of an Iowa loss to Maryland.

McCaffrey says the suspension won’t change his passionate approach during games; Dolphin says his descriptions of the game won’t change, with the exception of being more sensitive about his choice of words.
