While most of us will be preparing to enjoy the Easter weekend, Marshalltown’s Mike Wickham will be spending the weekend in Austin, Texas as the Referee Chair at the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association Championships. While on-site expenses are covered, Wickham and the other refs are not paid for their work. He says he just really enjoys being there for the athletes.

The competition in Austin will feature club teams from Iowa, Stanford and from colleges and universities from all over the country.

Master Wickham has been a referee since 1996 and travels all around the world to do so. He also teaches Park & Rec Taekwondo classes as well.
