The Marshalltown City Council last night approved proceeding with half a million dollars in Community Block Grant Housing Funds, The grants, which include income restrictions, could help pay down equity for homes being rebuilt on tornado damaged or other lots in the community.

Also at the council meeting,   Sergeant Sadie Weekly was received the Marshalltown Police Department Employee of the Year honor. The award is sponsored by the Times-Republican and determined by members of the police force.
